I cut a lot of bowl blanks for turners, and ran into some nice spalted birch. This is some of the left over, and it was just too nice to toss in the fire. It'll make some nice bottle stoppers, duce/goose calls. Even pen blanks. It's fully dry to only 7% moisture.
I also do stabilizing of wood....the right way.
Not by soaking wood in some sort of wood hardener, but by actually using a very
high vacuume and ultra high pressure technique. This piece is not
stabilized, but if you would like it to be, just email me.
This piece is nice and solid, and doesn't need
stabilizing...but you'd certainly want to do so, if it was going to be subject
to moisture.
Irregular sized pieces like this are hard to measure accurately, so I photo'd it next to my measuring square, so you can see the dimensions yourself.
