Welcome to ThinBoards.com. We specialize in wood that is thinner than 1/2". It's hard to find places to purchase thin boards, so we aim to fill that gap. We compare our prices with those of others on the internet from time to time, and it appears that we are the cheapest on the web. If you see otherwise, please let us know. Many folks have asked us to start carrying full size lumber, and so we have expanded into those items also. Even with shipping, I think you'll often times find us cheaper than purchasing from your local lumber yard. Use the menus on the left, and browse our items. We are a small, family owned business, located in central Wisconsin, with a second shop in the Chicago area (Antioch). You'll find a variety of items in the menus, that are many times one of a kind. I've actually spent time with David Ellsworth, at his home in Pennsylvania, so the thin walled Thuya bowls I have for sale will be of special interest to turners. Also, you'll notice that Google advertising around the borders of our webpages. If you click those links, and visit those advertisers, it really does help us keep our prices low. Additional info: 1) Our boards are solid, one pice boards. Not glue-ups. Though, some have asked us to use glue-ups for some of their thin boards. Glue-ups are much less likely to warp, so it can be a wise choice. And, don't think thin glue-ups will be weak. The glue joints are stronger than the wood, even on thin stock, and the lines are hardly noticable. 2) With one piece boards, we can do 8" wide stock, and in many cases up to 12" wide (or wider..just ask). With glue ups, almost any width can be obtained. 3) Our wood quality is perfect. You won't find any better. Wood is expensive. Shipping only adds to that cost. So, the last thing you want to worry about is getting poor quality wood. Our wood is knot free, and smooth (if you've requested sanding) as a babies butt....ok, maybe not quite. If you're not happy with what you get...no problem. We'll refund your money. It's that simple. 4) We do not mark up our shipping. And, you can pay us using a personal check, money order, Paypal, or almost any other online method. I can only take credit cards, via paypal.I will tell you that our shipping can be slow at times. It's not unusual that we get hit with some pretty big orders...and we're not a big operation. In addition, we take our time creating your thin boards. So, don't rush us. Plan ahead, and we'll all be happy. As always, feel free to ask questions about anything. We enjoy sharing what we know, and assisting you all we can with your wood working projects. You'll find our eMail link at the top of all our web pages. Oh, and one last thing...if you make some neat projects out of our wood, send us some pictures, and we'll add them to our website. Sort of a "Customer Showcase". We'll even put some price tags on them, if you want to sell your stuff.
