How To Apply A Wood Finish

Hi. My name is Dirk Martin. I'm located in northern Illinois.  What started out as a simple hobby, has now become a "hobby gone mad".

Most all of the thin boards I sell, are custom ordered and cut.  Nothing is really pre-cut, and sitting around.  I've pretty much got a variety of beautiful Amish milled lumber, that I then resaw down into smaller stock for "real" woodworkers, like you!  I really struggle with keeping up with demand, as my prices seem to be pretty good.

Matter of fact, I guarantee my thin boards are the cheapest you'll find on the internet!  If you find them cheaper, anywhere else, eMail me!

I also messed around with creating bowl blanks, for a while...and boy did that get out of hand!  It seems like lathe turning is more of a "winter sport", so I tend to start creating all my bowl blanks in the fall.  In the past, I've primarily sold them on eBay, under the ID "Mr.Bowl.Blank", but now I'm looking forward to moving them via this website.  If you are a bowl or vase turner, please keep an eye out here. I create some of the largest blanks ever sold on eBay.  Last year, I even cut a 135 pound Box Elder Maple bowl blank (and it had no pith)....and shipped it all the way to Washington!

I've now got my sister Patti and her husband Larry on board, so hopefully I can keep up with demand.  I've got a large load of Black Walnut, just waiting to be cut into blanks!

I also reciently met a gentleman, that wants to take down 3 walnut trees from his yard, and his "tree trimmer crew" is just going to dump it into the local land fill...so I'm going to try and save those.  This makes me want to mention that all the bowl blanks I sell, is from logs that were destined for the land fill, or planned on being burned.  I hate seeing that, so I salvage all the wood I can.  I do not cut down trees, just for the pleasure of turning, or selling.
